Ladies Day Out!

Today I had the privilege of meeting an awesome group of ladies.  They are so cool they even have a name for their group Ladies Day Out. They affectionately refer to themselves as the LDO! I got the invite last week - Debbie wanted to know if I would be interested to come over and talk to them about our  Market - Style CSA Program . I didn't even have to think about it - YES! I was invited to their Wednesday morning coffee....I told Debbie I would bring treats. I don't like to go anywhere without bring something and, yes, it was another reason to bake Shortbreads! It doesn't have to be Christmas to make Shortbreads or eat them. I had also decided that I would be taking some of our Talbotville Berry Farm Jams and Jellies for a special little surprise for the Ladies. While I waited for them to cool I thought I would multitask, and put the preserves in a bag - so they would be ready to go and I wouldn't forget them. The next thing I knew I opened up the Strawberry Jam and started adding little dollops of sweet goodness to the cookies...

I didn't know how long I was going to be when I left this morning, but when I asked Debbie what time it was and she said 2:53pm I couldn't believe it! The time had flown by with a group of ladies that were funny, honest, crafty, and treated each other like sisters (in a good way). I walked out of the house - after sharing in a group hug - feeling good, feeling like I had met some new friends, and feeling like I couldn't wait to see them again.

Enter....Wait for it....Hector Delanghe!

There are some things that we want and our customers want that we don't grow.  So we source out other local growers.  Hector Delanghe is the owner of Delhaven Orchards, and he's the guy we get our Peaches, Plums, Cherries, Apples and Pears from. His stuff is the best. I won't get Peaches in from anyone else  - his just taste the best. And, the same goes for his Apples, Pears, Cherries, and Plums. Hector is a hands on kind of a guy, I love the fact that when I call to put my order in  - it's sometimes Hector who picks up the phone! And although I know he is crazy busy over at his farm he still takes the time to talk to me. A few years ago I decided to start selling Apple Cider in our market, since Hector grows apples I thought he might know someone that made cider...."We do Shirley - It's Award Winning Apple Cider!" He was so proud, and he was so right.  We brought in his Apple Cider and it was an instant hit, we sell more every year than the year before;) Hector takes pride in what he does and that shows, and I'm proud to say we sell his stuff, Local supporting Local, gotta love it!

100 Market - Style CSA Memberships Available!

I put down a lot of strawberries during the summer so we can enjoy them in smoothies  Daiquiris in the winter.  I'm already starting to panic that I won't have enough to make it to May, when our strawberries will be ready.  Just so you know we planted "ever bearing"strawberries last year. The variety is Albion and they are delicious! They are grown on plastic out in the field and start bearing fruit in May and continue to September or even October, depending on Mother Nature. Don't worry we still have our June bearing crop of  strawberries - we got this! Oh, by the way, if you plan on eating a whole bunch of our strawberries this year you might want to get a Market- Style CSA Program with us;) If you have any questions give me a call 519.615.1164

When I look at this the only word that comes to mind is Beautiful...

The black plastic keeps the weeds out. Keeps the moisture in.  Keeps the soil warm.  Perfect!

It's Valentine's Day!

I wanted to do something special for our customers today.  And at around 10am I decided to do a Flash Draw!  Here is a link to the Facebook post I did.

I noticed when reading the comments, people mentioned our customer service, how they feel welcome when they come to our farm, friendly staff... I am soooooo happy- that means we are doing our job. I know that there are a lot of farms to choose from all within 20 minutes of our farm.  I know that we have the highest quality produce, we just won't settle for anything less. When I talk with our Staff the one thing I always say to them "Remember to be nice to the people. They may not always remember what you say But they will Always remember the way you make them feel".  I know that we stand out because we have Outstanding Staff. #AProudFarmGirl.
