This is the shovel my Dad used.

Today was a very important day for us. Today we had our Ground Breaking Ceremony for our new market. Today we were humbled by the show of support from our community partners.

I can hardly believe that it's happening.  My Dad built our current market, he laid the cinder blocks one by one, he had a dream.  We are keeping his dream (and my Mom's) alive. We are moving forward with the building of our new market, they would be proud.

Instead of using all new shovels for our Ground Breaking Ceremony, I pulled a couple of old ones out of the barn. One of them was my Dad's. He was here with us today, and so was my Mom.

#won'tbelongnow

Last year we made a decision to build a new market. And we've been busy planning ever since. Who knew so much was involved? This is the biggest project we've ever worked  on. Lots of paperwork and lots of jumping through hoops. But it has been all worth it!

On January 10th we had a Site Meeting with DHP Contracting and the Engineers. Having Dave Sparenburg of DHP build our new market was a no brainer.  A long long time ago Dave used to work here, yep he used to work out in the fields here with me!  When you've know someone for a long time, you know how they roll, you know weather or not you would do business with them, you know weather they have have integrity or not.

I was sooooo excited and could hardly wait for this day to come.  It meant that all of our planning had paid off, and that yeah, this is really gonna happen! The Engineers were here to figure out exactly where the new market is gonna go and the "elevations".

Welcome 2016!

Here we go rolling into another year. I'm just going to #ownit the last post I made was in July... I really do have the best of intentions. My goal is to always post once a week. Annnnd it looks like that didn't happen. Once we start planting, and then start the spring clean in our market to get ready to open for the season my Blog just gets away from me.

2015 was an amazing year for us. Mother Nature cooperated with us and our crops were good. We were also able to bring in some top of the line produce from other local producers.

I hope you like our video, it has our favourite pictures from our 2015 season. We have a lot planned for 2016 and I will fill you in next week!
